Little Grebe Tachybaptes ruficollis

The Little Grebe was regularly counted at the waterfowl counts both in
September and January. It is difficult to estimate the numbers wintering
in Sweden as the species is found in small inland waters and sheltered
coastal sites as in harbours. At the September count in 2019 22
individuals were found whereas more than 100 were counted in January
2020. The indices show marked variation between years but the trend for
January was generally increasing and significant.
